Rock Me Like A Hurricane

All right, fine; after hemming and hawing for a year, I did some quick research, blindfolded a puppy, kicked a chicken and finally decided on a fogger by closing my eyes and pointing randomly.  After accidentally jamming my son in the eye, I followed the trail of tears until a solitary drop landed near an advertisement for the Chauvet Hurricane 1300.  The chiller unit, however, I’ll probably make myself. (A cooler, coupla holes, a slotted hose, some ice… what could go wrong?)

A little pricey, sure, but the reviews are generally numerous and enthusiastic, meaning that at least some of the reviewers aren’t employees of Chauvet.

The fog this year shall be thick; it shall lay low to the ground; and it shall possibly swallow a small child.  If so, here’s  hoping having a body on my front lawn doesn’t ruin it for the upcoming Christmas display. (Children can be so thoughtless and selfish like that.)

Fog Machines

It’s time, my friends.  It’s time that I finally invested in a new fog machine.  My first–and last–was a $20 cheapie found at a local ‘Mart-type store.  As you can imagine, such high quality merchandise produced a wonderful amount of… smog.  Enough smog to choke a Smurf, but not actual fog, and certainly not in an amount large enough to cover a garage floor.

The models I’m thinking about now are the American DJ Fog Storm 1200HD Fog, the Chauvet H1300 Hurricane Fog Machine, or the Eliminator EF-1000 Fog Machine.  Neither of these models has a chiller unit, a tub or otherwise plastic container in the back you can fill with ice to keep the fog cooled down so it won’t float up and become, you know, smog.  But, they seem to be the best to be found at a reasonable price, so I may choose one of them.

If you have any experience with one of the three, or if you know of another fog unit you’d like to recommend, please feel free to suggest away.

Horror Host

Kansas City needs a new horror host.  Or, hostess, as Roberta Solomon’s Crematia Mortem kept Kansas City entertained with ‘B’ horror flicks  from 1981 to 1988.  Unfortunately, all of the affiliate stations here in town are committed to showing the usual late night pablum everyone else is seeing across the country, so asking for local flavor might, indeed, be asking too much.

Maybe KCPT would allow a few hours on the weekend dedicated to camp and goth; heck, at this point I’d even settle for one of the unfortunate city channels.

Also, welcome to Goblin Manor.  First post and all.
